PSV certificate of Initial Fitness COIF
As an operator of "Over 8 Passenger" seat limousines we currently run under the schedule 6 regulations. However the paperwork involved in this has proved to be very time consuming, So we are currently working with Executive Coach Builders to develop the COIF certificate on the All New Ford Expeditions 140in QVM Limousine.
What is coif ?
Certificate of Initial Fitness.
Why Coif ?
Under current UK law any passenger vehicle carrying more than 8 people and being operated for hire and reward needs to have a COIF certificate.
These certificates are hard to gain due to the number of modifications that need to be made in order to meet the stringent UK regulations.
Just a hand full of these modification such as turning circle. British standard glass and lights, seat belt anchorage, and noise pollution tests take months to complete.
We are confident that we will have completed our COIF certification process by June 2008*.
Why did we choose the Expedition ?
Unlike the Excursion, Ford have no plans to cease production of the Expedition.
The Expedition is going to be the next generation of limousines in UK, and will be a fully legal PSV limousine for more than 8 passengers.
Please note in order to run a Coif limousine legally you will need a PSV operator license, all the applications forms can be found at www.vosa.gov.uk . Or alternatively you can contact Bill Bowling at the NLCA for application details.
* subject to VOSA test appointments!!
